Create-A-Bed Queen Size Deluxe Murphy Bed Kit, Vertical

It should go without saying that if you’re looking to build your own Murphy bed instead of buy one, you’re decently skilled with tools and have some equipment ready. This is not a beginner DIY if you want it to turn out really good. I used a lot of my shop tools - Table/Miter/Circular saw, handheld and drill press, drum sander, compressor, nailer, etc. Like with any wood project, being able to make accurate square cuts and assemble is only the first half, the other half being finishing work. I probably spent around $500-600 on the materials in addition to the actual hardware, and spent a few days doing most of the project, but I’m happy to have a product that I made myself instead of paying out the nose for something mass produced. I thought the hardware was a little expensive for what you get, but I have no complaints with the quality. It’s a solid kit, sturdy hardware, and there’s a lengthy instruction manual that tells you everything you need to buy, cut, and assemble.

Solid and well designed. perfect for my 400 square-foot efficiency condo renovation. I also bought it because my carpenter cabinet maker is a retired engineer and was fascinated with it. He did a great job and I am very pleased. The bed is a little bit hard to make up but I put an 8 inch memory foam mattress in it and it’s very comfortable. Also has handles now which were a bit difficult to find. Pleased.

Definitely not an IKEA-type build, you will need to purchase and cut all pieces outside of the rotating hardware and the assembly requires at least two people. The plans are solid and with enough time and patience, you’ll end up with a sturdy and effective Murphy bed for significantly less than the price of a preassembled bed. Fully customizable as well.I strongly recommend buying pre-sanded, flat plywood for this project, as bowing definitely makes the build more difficult.

Soooo, the product is of good quality and well thought out, you can tell it is put together with care. Buuut I’m only leaving four stars because if you just follow the pamphlet, you’re going to have a bunch of bs to redo and even more money to waste. Very upsetting. Just watch their videos on YouTube. A template is supposed to match up perfectly, and simply put, they don’t. Says to measure this and measure that, place template here, but then the crap doesn’t line up. I’m an industrial electrician, so I’m pretty sure I know what I’m doing. I take pride in my work. I know not everything can be perfect but this is pretty simple stuff. Overall, these are minor issues, the product itself is good, so just take your time with EVERYTHING.

The media could not be loaded. My husband and I built the queen Murphy bed in September of 2023. We had Home Depot cut all of our wood because we don’t own a table saw. The instructions were incredibly detailed and the video was extremely helpful. This is not a beginner project but you do not need to be a woodworking expert to complete it. The bed has been used numerous times without any issues. Would highly recommend if you want to make a multiple functional room!

This is an amazing product. My wife and I followed the directions and put this together using maple plywood without a single problem. We had one change we wanted with the placement of the headboard and the customer support answered immediately and gave us our answer.I don’t leave many reviews but simply had to on this… it is one heck of a great product with excellent customer support.We added an end table and closet (still adding some trim to that) using the same maple plywood as you can see in the picture.This is the first piece of furniture my wife and I have built from scratch, we enjoyed doing it, and we ended up at about one quarter of the price of a retail Murphy bed with the added benefit of exact customization to our space.

Precision is key to this build... take your time and follow the directions TO THE LETTER STEP BY STEP and everything will turn out fantastic... once I had it in place I decided to add 1x3 oak on the face as trim making sure it did not impinge ... Its in a newly returned to use workout room so the 3/4 inch painted galvanized pipe serves as a great place to hang mats and towels... it also off sets its sheer size because we did a queen sideways due to ceiling height but its weight was easy to get in the house. I have already helped 2 friends start their projects and if you have looked at any online product they are pure crap... made this with high quality plywood and finished hardwood trim. This kit is a great value for the money, The Murphy Bed Store quoted me $4700 for a similar bed from MDF... ALL IN with this item and Lowes lumbar I built this for $935 this looks GREAT in my opinion... with the new tv and a 11" matress our guest have said it deceptively comfortable .

This was an excellent kit with very easy to follow instructions. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on this to make it look furniture grade. Would recommend starting with cabinet grade plywood as well. I spent about 40 hours total labor making this unit and an additional side shelf. Decorative trim, etc. 2 recommendations , drill and put your handles on before putting the 1/4 panel down on the bed support frame. And make a 2-1/4” runner across the bottom of the cabinet to secure one base to the other. I also pocket hole drilled and mounted my vertical assembly bottoms into the trim once squared up. I would interpret the dimensions 2-5” wider on the verticals the next time I do this so there is room to run electrical and store pillows in the bed. Lesson learned. Excellent hardware kit and very clear instructions, just time consuming. Not for the novice wood worker
