A Matter of Inserts And Physics
Started wearing these for work where I am required to 'get up and walk' a lot of late. Found these after searching for stronger yet not too industrial shoe (after my sturdy Clarks began to give it up). After about 7 months of wear I believe these shoes have done what I asked them to do. They are sturdy, they fit well and the inside was nice enough (interior fit). The insert padding was 10 out of 10 fat the start but after about 4-5 months of regular wear began to flatten out in the normal wear spots. Those are the outside heel area, then heel then toe, etc. Finally went flat. I replaced it with a standard $15 Dr. S. slide in model but it wasn't nearly as good as the original insert from Wolverine. Finally had to go to the Wolverine home page and order the insert ($26). Also ordered laces for the shoe (one had broken, the other on its last leg) for the shoe, but they sent me a bigger lace which look like clown laces. Will return when motivated.Overall worth the money for what I need them to do. Exterior wear is normal, the bottom is minimal and even. Shoes do have that rubber squeak sound inside at times when they're wet, goes away when dry. And, of course, the insert issue. My insert lasted abut 4 months of good wear, 5 before I removed it and replaced with COTS product. Knocked to a '4' star rating because of the insert lasting only 4 months.Since it has a great deal to do with the shoe being comfortable when it goes flat they are 'just average shoes'. As I write this I don't know yet if you can buy an exact 'same' insert replacement. Did, as noted above, but the feel is just not the same, but better than when it was flat. When all works is a '5' star shoe.

Great shoe! Can be worn for work and /or leisure. It may be considered "a little" bulky and stiff for leisure wear (remember, its a "work" shoe - as in, physical work), but for appearance sake they are quite doable out-and-about or in the office... Haven't had them long enough to comment on the construction, but I do own the boot version of this "shoe," and the two are identical in construction; and the boots have been through h#ll and back and are still holding strong (stitching, sole, etc.)...

Comfort and durability in something between a dress shoe and a work boot
I've been wearing a pair of these regularly for about a year and a half. These boots fit very well (I have wide feet), and once you break them in they're very comfortable. They are also very durable (which for me is important): I expect these to last me more than two years, where a comparable Sketchers oxford only lasted me about nine months. Good arch support (I get shin splints with other boots but not these), and the soles are tough enough to hold up without feeling like clogs. Where I live, we have a tendency to get deep pools of dirty icewater off the curbs near crosswalks in the winter and spring; because of the way the tongues are sown in, I can step in the water without worrying about wet feet. Also maybe worth noting that the leather is a color that's easy to find matching belts for.One thing I'm not a fan of are the laces. The original laces were really difficult to keep tied without pulling very tight, and after about four months of pulling everything very tight the laces broke. It also might be worth noting that I am accustomed to soles with more-aggressive treads on them, so I needed to be careful with these at first in the snow and ice. That being said, IMO these boots are worth what seem like minor drawbacks. If these are still available once it gets to that point, I'm currently planning on buying another pair once my current pair (eventually) wears out.

Best shoes anywhere
I have been wearing Wolverines for 15 years or so. They are rugged and comfortable and the style goes anywhere. They are my go to walking shoes above all others. Last year my old pair was getting old so I tried to replace them.I could not find them in my size. I tried a similar pair of Timberlands but they are not as comfortable. I need a thick sole Because of tender feet. I was thrilled to find my new Wolverines and am already walking in great comfort.I am good for the next 5years

Well, They feel good.
Shoes feel good on the feet. I bought these for garden and around the house use. So really want to see how they hold up. I am TOUGH on shoes. I work a lot on my knees. Which is hard on the bindings and glue near the toe of the shoes. If they can last two years. I will definitely buy another pair.

Heavy Duty! Very nice looking!
Really nice shoes, but left shoe fit pretty well & right shoe was to wide & slipped on my heel. 10.5 D. Really heavy shoes, medium cushioning. I’m looking for max cushioning. I think 1/2 size lower might have been ok? These shoes look as good in person as the pictures.

I don't understand how I can have a shoe from a company that fits like a glove and get a different shoe from the same company, in the same size and not even be able to get my foot in it?
