Not a glass lens.

Think I'll be keeping these for a while!
I'm a bit of a sunglass geek. I'm frequently buying and reselling shades just to satisfy my curiosities about different companies' lens technology and build quality. I find that I keep coming back time and again to Smith Polarized Chromapop Grey Green as my absolute favorite sunglass lens. I've had several models with this lens - the only reason I sold them was because I could never quite find a model that had the right fit and style for my face. I finally found that in the Basecamp! Style and fit will be different from person to person but these are pretty much exactly what I was looking for.Just to reiterate my recommendation about the Polarized Chromapop Grey Green lenses - I have tried lenses from just about every major manufacturer and nothing beats these lenses in my opinion. They enhance certain wavelengths of the color spectrum and block others so as to improve contrast and definition. The effect is subtle but the world really does look more beautiful through these lenses (especially on a sunny day - on overcast days other lenses might have an edge). Back-side glare is well controlled too, which is an often overlooked aspect of non-wrap style glasses. Just a note - be aware that Chromapop Grey Green lenses come in both polarized and non-polarized. I strongly prefer polarized and would recommend them for most people, but some may have valid reasons for choosing non. Just make sure you know what you're ordering.Build quality is good - if you really want solid feeling frames with thicker, denser plastic, then you might be more impressed with Costa, Serengeti, or Persol. But I have never had a problem with Smith frames - they are designed to be lightweight and can feel a little flimsy, but they seem to hold up fine. The only thing that DID annoy me just a bit about these Basecamps is that they did not include a hardshell case. C'mon Smith - I would have gladly paid a couple bucks more for a real case! All you get is a microfiber cloth. I ALMOST subtracted a star for this but really, these are great glasses so I'm leaving all 5 stars in place.

Awesome sunglasses
I love Smith sunglasses. Discovered them several years ago for sports, & since then, purchased regular sunglasses as well. They fit perfectly & the quality is great. Always happy with them.

Not what Iâm used to from Smith
The lens was advertised as glass but itâs polycarbonate (plastic). What bothers me the most is that the rubber on the earpiece was poorly fit and keeps coming loose. Not what I expect for $175 sunglasses

My goof all around sunglasses
I originally bought these for running, but they quickly became my all around sunglasses. Very light and amazing colors. I wish they had a spring hinge like my Costaâs but so far that hasnât been a problem.

Awesome for Everything!
I bought these for backpacking, but have now ended up using them for just about everything: trail running, driving, walking around town, and still backpacking. They're lightweight, seem durable, and have lenses that are very good optically with a tint that can handle many situations (not too dark, not too light). The only time I don't use them is on a cloudy day for running--I have sunglasses with a lighter tint for that. Or when I put the Wayfarers on to look a little cooler. I wasn't expecting these Smith's to be so versatile, but I am extremely happy they are for me.

Great!
Really like the chroma pop, gives a touch of personality vs mirrored or simply smoke lenses. Frames are lightweight but rigid. A great light option without the chunky Oakley look. Making the switch from Maui Jim- thank you, Smith Optics. My only gripe is they donât come with a hard case- but not taking any stars off for that. Solid product.

Great fit . Adequate lenses
I love that they fit snugg so ...raise unop head & they stay. Frame fits face & no points of touch on cheeks. Light weight so no soreness. They are poly lenses so.... clarity is adequate

Not worth it, overpriced Luxottica alternative
Chromapop is just like any polarized brown plastic alternative from Luxottica (Smith was distributed by Safilo group..)Comes with a case (cheap china quality), comes with a bag (ok microfiber), frame is not glossy like in picture, it is matt turtle. Chromapop is nothing fancy, just brown polarized plastic lenses. I can see no difference in comparison to brown Ray Bans.Glasses are very light (which is a plus), but this comes at hefty price of being very flimsy. Not sure how it will hold over time.DO NOT BUY at retail price, it is a real ripoff, just like Luxottica stuff. My only reason to buy smith was to avoid this L glasses conglomerate, yet unfortunately its the same, no more quality :(Ray bans from the 80s - where are you?...
