Italian Imported Pecorino Romano, 3 Pound

Excellent, excellent, excellent, Fast great tasting everything I could want !

It arrived on time and in excellent condition. The taste is great. No crumbling. I will buy it again!

I had originally bought some PecoRomano from a vendor in New Jersey and it came in a big blob of OIL. It was packed in a Cardboard box in another cardboard box with Wrapping Paper and two Small Freezer Packs, Temperature in the box was 94 degrees upon arrival. Then I found this Website on Amazon that I thought was coming from an Italian vendor with a USA warehouse of Frank and Sal's Italian Market. However, It was coming from Busolengo, Italy. After my last experience with ordering cheese, I was not Overly Happy about all the extra travel. Well the cheese went from Italy to France, to New York City, to Dallas, to Fort Worth. It was delivered by Fed Ex. I was Doubtful if it would edible. This Shipment was also packed in a Cardboard box, but with a Sealed Styrofoam box on the inside. the Styrofoam box had 3 Giant Freezer Packs packed near the cheese. The cheese was cool to the touch and in really Excellent Shape. Oh Yeah, it was 104 degrees today in Fort Worth. I am very happy with this purchase and would purchase again from Frank and Sal's Italian Market.

I've noticed on some of the other Pecorino Romano cheeses on Amazon that people complained of it arriving warm or not weighing as much as advertised but this was NOT the case here. I did wait until the end of Sep, beginning of Oct to order because the summer here has been really brutal. But they packed it in a cooler with an ice pack and it arrived nice a cool, with no issues. It's one big 3-lb chunk that's vacuum packed. I haven't tried the cheese yet but will bet it's exactly as described since the shipping and handling promises were well kept. If it's in any way less than what I expected I'll update this review accordingly.Otherwise consider this a five-star review on all aspects. Thanks for Frank & Sal for a pleasant online buying experience.11/1/24: I have used this cheese now a few times and find it to be absolutely wonderful. It is exactly as I expected it to be. I will not hesitate to reach out to Frank & Sal again for more cheese or for that matter, anything they offer. The product is fine and the service excellent. Thanks fellas. I’ve purchased the Talian Imported Pecorino Romano several times before, and it’s always been a solid choice for my Italian pasta dishes. The flavor is wonderfully sharp and aromatic, with that perfect balance of strong, salty goodness that really elevates any sauce. This particular 3-pound package is great for cooking in larger quantities, and the price was the best I could find compared to other sellers.However, I did notice that the packaging for this batch wasn’t quite up to par. While the cheese itself is still good, there weren’t enough cooling packs or dry ice to keep it at the ideal temperature during shipping. This led to a slight decrease in quality compared to previous orders. It’s not a deal breaker, but I would definitely appreciate better packaging to ensure it stays fresh and at its best.Overall, the flavor of the cheese remains fantastic, but I hope the packaging improves in the future. I’ll still buy again because of the great price and taste, but I hope the shipping experience is better next time.

Deliciously tangy, buttery sharp and with a great crumbly texture. I grew up in a heavily Italian NYC suburb and had cheese of this quality all the time. Not till now has it ever been this good again (unless I was visiting in Italy).

The cheese wasn't in one three pound wedge but contained a few thin slices as well, probably to get to three pounds even. Those thin wedges were mostly waxy rind. The cheese itself is VERY mild, with no bite. I kept checking the rind to see if they hadn't sent Parmigiano by mistake. Not a bad cheese but nothing you couldn't find in your local supermarket. For less.UPDATE: I grated this cheese and was left with cheese so oily it sticks together. Worse yet, it is tasteless. In desperation I bought a container of Locatelli from the supermarket. This is something I never do because, when you buy it grated, it is usually of inferior quality. I found it to be delightful when compared to this crap. I know that cheese can vary from wheel to wheel but this cheese either was not aged long enough or was improperly aged. I hope Amazon stops selling from this vendor

This is great Romano cheese! and the price is affordable. I'm so happy Amazon carries it. I recently moved from NY, where it is so easy to find italian products, because there are alot of italians, but where i moved Illinois, its very hard to find italian products or if they are found, the price is really over the top, and for me that only cook italian, cheese is mandatory, in almost every recipe.I higly reccomend I will certainly reorder. I did reorder this cheese back in August, because of the extreme heat, it arrived very soft, so I immediately put it in the refrigerator, but although it got a little firmer, it remained kind of soft, when I grated it, it just crumbled, instead of having that grated look. Romano cheese is supposed to be a hard dry cheese, it never crumbles, this cheese is too fresh to grate, it hasn't been aged enough, and it goes rather quickly, my order of 6 pounds in late August, is already gone. I don't think I will reorder again, because it's not really dry enough to grate and very oily.
