Motorcraft - Switch Asy - Igniti (P) (SW6958), Black

Item arrived in original manufacturer packaging, unopened - not resealed. Item (ignition switch) works perfectly and resolved a vehicle starting issue I was experiencing.

This was a perfect replacement for our failing ignition switch. On our 2003 Explorer, this was an easy removal/install procedure. I would like to add, if Amazon reads this - PLEASE make sure your packers ship delicate electrical items such as this in an appropriate padded shipping box.This switch was actually delivered, bouncing around in a poly bag with no protective fill or bubble wrap, if you can believe it. Fortunately, it was not damaged.

Matches the old Ignition switch for an 02 focus and seems like genuine Motorcraft.Worth the extra few bucks in my opinion.

DO NOT BUY...Would be zero stars if it was possible to submit that way (why isn't it?). Product was defective out of the packaging. It appeared to be good as it installed like an OEM, when engaging the part, it light up all the appropriate dashboard lights, but it failed to perform it's key duty of engaging the starter. It took a while to troubleshoot and I ultimately went to my local auto-parts store, got the exact same part, and it worked perfectly. It was more important to get the car up and running, as I had 10 other things on my plate to get done. To finally have the time to request a return, only to find out I am outside the return window, considering the amount of money I spend here, I would expect some type of flexibility in at least appealing.

I installed this in my 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid in about 30 minutes. It fit perfectly with no modifications. I purchased the switch because I was experiencing intermittent starting with the ignition switch turned to the start position. I diagnosed the issue with the help of Youtube videos and online blogs from others having this problem. I removed the steering wheel cowling and found the switch moving slightly as the key was turned and if I held the switch firmly and pressed in on it the vehicle would start every time. Others online with this issue (one being a Ford service tech) said it was either the switch or the key cylinder and in my case it was the switch.

Fit perfectly in a 2008 Mercury Mariner which had the typical hard starting problem. Installation was very easy and the vehicle starts much better.

Installed the switch and the lock cylinder cant turn it far enough to engage the starter circuit. Had to reinstall the old switch which is an local parts store brand. I thought buying Motorcraft would save me headaches.

I could have got this overnight at our local parts store. Price was the same and returns are possible locally. This arrived after two weeks without padding in a plastic bag. If Purolator had just tossed it on my cement porch it would have smashed. Another reviewer said to just buy locally but I wanted to ensure it was an original Ford part. In retrospect, local is OEM so why bother?
