Q: I hope this is not a silly question. Do the keys in this instrument play the same note when the bellows are pulled and/or pushed?

The notes are different on both the push and pull bellows for a particular key (button). For example, for buttons on the left side, if you press one key/button and push the bellows it'll play a B natural, and if you press that same key/button and pull the bellows it'll play a C natural. The buttons on the right side of this concertina are just the reverse. I hope this helps.

Q: Would you recommend this for Zydeco?

Yes. The concertina accordion is a nice addition to the music of southern Louisiana that combines music of French origin, and elements of Caribbean music, and the blues that include the guitar and washboard. This 20 button concertina accordion only plays music in the keys of C major and A minor and G major and E minor. If you want to play songs in all keys, you'll need a concertina that has 30 buttons in order to play the full chromatic scale.

The only place... China. You can tell the ones that are made other than in asia. Theyre at least $1000 more.

Q: Is it possible to open up the box and lubricate the keys if they stick?

Yes, you just pull a few Philips screws out and you can service everything. I had one of the rubber grommets slip off before inside
