Good quality saw

So far so good! I really like this saw, it cuts well, I like how it folds up so easily, and the blade stops a lot quicker than the dewalt table saw. Only thing is this plastic piece broke off when I was turning the sawdust outfeed pvc pipe, so wouldn’t be a bad idea to have something stronger for that.

Worm drive is perfect!

First day I used it it ran for 6hours non stop! The thing is easy to set up and adjust for all my cut I need! Saw blade that came with it wasn’t great but will get things going.

Fantastic saw

Motor and fence were dead on accurate and table is reasonably flat right out of the box. Bevel stops and indicator required minimal and easy tweaking. Locking/unlocking the fence is a little more dramatic than I'd like, but the fence doesn't move when doing so. Fence and blade lift mechanisms are smooth. The included blade tested fine for what it is (rough cut), though I replaced it with something else immediately after. The design of the stand is mostly great, and i appreciate the left-side support it offers, but reaching the release lever with your foot can be a little awkward. The motor stops quicker than other saws I've used and the brushes spark when stopping, which was a little unnerving at first, but is apparently normal. I didn't find it particularly louder than any other saw, but I'm wearing hearing protection anyway. Overall a breeze to put together and an exceptional portable saw.

Almost perfect saw

I'll just start by saying that the difference in this saw and one that might be $100-200 less is unbelievable. This saw is absolutely worth every penny if you need a quality table saw.The assembly was straight forward, but I will say that you may need to look at the pictures if you are not familiar with how folding tables work. I am and I had to adjust the bolts a little to get them properly installed. None the less I didn't buy it for assembly instructions, I bought it to cut wood.It cuts very well and the metal fence is worth it's weight in gold because it can guide a board to make a 1/8 inch cut for 8 feet with no issue. I've included a photo of a cut made. It has near furniture quality cuts on plain pine. The blade height adjustment is the only thing that I would change as it didn't have a height lock. This can me important for someone using for dado type cuts. It stays put fairly well, but there is just a little play in the adjuster. The fence has dual metal gears and while you can move it by hand I found using the dial makes sure that they are parallel to the blade. The difference between the saw and the SPT99-12 and the SPT99-11 is the Diablo Blade and I can't seem to find the 12 anywhere. The skill blade that comes with the 11 is still a great blade. It makes furniture grade cuts. The saw is easy to manipulate and move around with the large wheels. It makes pulling over a rough terrain or curbs simple as a job site saw should be. The front feet keep it in position while working and the sawdust shoot has the ability to angle exhaust or connector for shop vacuum. The worm drive is the most impressive and important part of this saw. The noise level is significantly lower than my other craftsman saw and the power is so much better. There's no play in the blade for it walk on cuts. It's a true professional experience.Other details I like are the safety switch which requires deliberately pressing the recessed on switch and easy off you can tap off.So it comes in right at 100 lb and it's manageable for one person to load in or out of a truck.Overall, this is a truly functional saw that will provide a great service life and I am extremely happy with the purchase

Great saw. Powerful and lots of features. Awful miter gauge.

I needed something better than my old portable $99 table saw. It just wasn't cutting it, pun sort of intended.I looked at all the competitors, and decided upon this Skil for its features like the terrific fence, cutting power, and the nice stand and accessories. Most reviews seemed positive but reviews are somewhat sparse for this compared to other saws like the Rigid and Dewalt. It was easy to assemble and set up, if you are good at that type thing. If you are the person who NEEDS directions to assemble things, you will probably struggle through having to interpret the itty-bitty pictures. It was reasonably accurate out of the box, for most average jobs anyway. I did take maybe 20 minutes to tweak things just a bit, but unless you are doing finish carpentry that probably would not be needed. Overall this feels like a fairly well built saw, and especially with casual or homeowner use it probably will last nearly forever. I am not a builder or framer or anything, so I can't comment on that type of use and abuse.Like I mentioned above, the fence is great with lots of options for positions, the gear drive, and the width the fence can be adjusted to. It is great for wide and long rip cuts. The push stick holder location is nice, and the blade guard and anti-kickback pawls are very easy to install and remove and store on the saw. The blade arbor lock and the riving knife are easy to use, with no removable parts to lose. This is a very powerful saw, and it cuts like crazy even in hard wood. The stock blade is decent for rough cuts, but you will want something different or better for fine cutting. Some have complained about the tone or volume of the saw when running, but I think it is acceptable. I don't have much frame of reference for other table saws, but it isn't any worse than my circular saw in my opinion, and it is quieter than my $99 direct drive saw. Dust collection seems to be decent enough. The stand is sturdy, adjustable for uneven surfaces, and has huge easy to roll wheels. The saw work height is comfortable for me at my 5'11" height. There are only a couple minor complaints. The worst letdown on this saw is the miter gauge. It is horrible, cheap plastic with basically zero accuracy and tons of slop. It is like a kids toy. My $99 saw has basically the same quality miter gauge or maybe even slightly better than this Skil. I was expecting something better on a $650 saw. Even a heavy-duty high-quality plastic would be better than this junk. I don't think that plastic is acceptable at this price point period, but they could have done so much better here with better quality material, overall design and better tolerances. So be prepared to spend another at least $50-$75 for a entry level miter gauge to have basic functionality.I feel the cord could have been a little longer, but maybe most construction workers are used to dragging cords around? In my case I use it exclusively in the garage and not having to get out an extra cord would be nice. It only needs maybe 4-5 feet more cord to be able to be used without an extension cord in most home garages. Minor issue overall.I either am not used to the power switch, or it isn't intuitive enough. I have used it for quite a few hours now over the course of a few weeks, and I still can't hit the button by memory. Maybe that is just me not being used to it yet? To me, it seems a bit low or too recessed into the switch housing or something. I don't like having to step back and look at the button to turn it on and off. I doubt I could find it fast in an emergency, and I know I couldn't hit it with my knee. Other saws have larger or more prominent switches, which is good for safety. And another related thing that could have made this saw really outstanding would be to have an auxiliary outlet that turned on with the saw for things like a dust collector. Or at least an always on auxiliary outlet. Again this thing is around $650, which is quite a bit more than competing saws so it seems strange to me that it doesn't have some extra features like this.I guess time will tell if it lasts, but my first impression is quite good with the exception of the miter gauge. I would definitely consider buying this saw. It seems better than saws like the Rigid branded ones, and at probably at least equal to a similar model Dewalt.
